What We Do

Our goal is to provide children attending Title I schools with a diverse range of fiction and nonfiction books—stories that reflect their identities in a positive light and introduce them to the richness of American history and the wider world.

How It Works

We provide the partner Title I school with signage along with a bookcase that can hold approximately 100 books.  On a continuous basis, Always Reading volunteers replenish the supply of books.  We encourage our partner school to designate a place in the front lobby where the bookcase is visible and easily accessible for all students. It’s that simple.

How you can support our work

In order to fulfill the goals of the Achieving Through Reading Program, we need new donated books and funding.  Our books are carefully curated to ensure we have a wide selection of new books that help expand a child’s knowledge of self and of the world.

You can support the Achieving Through Reading Program and the mission of Always Reading by clicking the DONATE button anywhere it appears on this site or by contacting us at ramonajohnson@alwaysreading.org

The Achieving Through Reading Program is a big hit at our school. I have heard students say:

”Wow, we have new books!”
”I can really keep this book?”
”Can I stop and pick a new book today?”

We are very thankful to Always Reading for providing diverse books for students. It is important for students to see themselves as a character in a book and Always Reading does just that for our students! Our students love to select “new” books to take home and read to build their personal libraries.
